WARSAW — The YMCA’s Camp Little Eagle is offering day camp to give kids in kindergarten through eighth grade an adventurous, active and healthy summer. Camp Little Eagle will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 4-10.

YMCA camp programs offer youth fun and unique experiences with an opportunity to learn new things, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime.

Summer is the ideal time for kids to get up, get out and explore. But, for some kids summer means no access to recreational and educational activities to help them learn, grow and thrive during out-of-school time. As a result, some kids experience learning loss and gain weight twice as fast than during the school year. Attending Kosciusko Community YMCA’s summer camp gives kids an opportunity to keep their minds and bodies active.

Again this summer, Camp Little Eagle will be involved in the YMCA’s Readers Program and the staff will provide 30 minutes of reading time each day for campers to read to themselves. Kids can bring their own books, or books will be provided. Kids will participate in swim lessons and water safety instruction at the YMCA twice a week and open swim on the other three days. Additionally, camp will keep kids active for at least 60 minutes each day with more than 300 group games.

They’ll also keep mentally active with STEM and nutritional activities. Campers will take field trips almost every week to places where they have an opportunity to be active and/or engage with what they’re learning in the weekly themed lessons. Field trips include Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, a water park, Skyzone, Science Central, Crazy Pinz and Paige’s Crossing.

Camp Little Eagle provides a safe environment for campers and is held at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA branch on Mariners Drive, Warsaw. The theme for this summer is the wonderful world of Disney. Sign-ups are being held now.

To ensure that all youth have the chance to experience camp, the Kosciusko Community YMCA offers financial assistance to those in need. Anyone interested in helping send kids to camp this summer can donate to the YMCA at www.kcymca.org/give/.

The YMCA is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All the efforts and offerings of the Kosciusko Community YMCA are guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Every day, the YMCA works side-by-side with its neighbors to make sure everyone regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. In 2017, the Kosciusko Community YMCA provided $183,298 in financial assistance to make sure that happens.
